On the right hand side bud, the small stem in the middle of the female mmcx connector has snapped off meaning it no longer makes a connection with the cable part of the connector and no sound comes out at all. I.e it needs replacing. Also the original cable frayed at the 3.5mm terminal at the stress point meaning it was intermittent with sound. Ideally I would like a new connector be attached with what's left at the bottom as the cabke is high quality and would not shorten it my more than a cm or two.
