- I have an admittedly older CD transport. But it uses a Sony mech (as above), and these things last for decades. Mine now needs the laser transport mechanism replaced. I cannot get access (even though it's a top-loader – I would need to take the top-plate off and poke around inside which I'm reluctant to do!), but its P/N is beginning with SSK… If you can get hold of these mechanisms (there are new ones advertised on Ebay, for example), then perhaps it's worth sending the unit to you. Please advise?
