    I have an admittedly older CD transport. But it uses a Sony mech (as above), and these things last for decades. Mine now needs the laser transport mechanism replaced. I cannot get access (even though it's a top-loader – I would need to take the top-plate off and poke around inside which I'm reluctant to do!), but its P/N is beginning with SSK… If you can get hold of these mechanisms (there are new ones advertised on Ebay, for example), then perhaps it's worth sending the unit to you.
