    This is a US purchased direct drive turntable that has been stored for a few years in its original box and was working fine when last used. Because it's been so long since I used it I got confused about whether to plug it in to the switched inputs on my US purchased Denon 110V/240V amp which is set to 220/240V. Tried a forum post online suggesting it wouldn't make any difference. (WRONG?!) Plugged it into 'switched' input and the turntable emitted a really loud hum although I had its earth wire attached to the earth terminal on the amp. Then tried plugging it into the unswitched terminal on the amp but it did the same thing only louder so I turned it off after about 5 secs. but it emitted a noticeable electronic smell. Tried powering it on subsequently via a 120W 110 to 240V transformer directly into the mains supply but it won't work. I opened it up to check out the power supply and the PCB and everything looks fine aside from a very small blister on the circuit board close to the phono output terminals where the solder joints are slightly tinged brown. Is there any hope of your repairing this do you think?
