Having thoroughly inspected both the mixer and plug power-point there is absolutely no signs of any serious damage whatsoever on either, and having researched the likely issue, it looks like it must just be a simple blown fuse-esque issue with the plug unit/ power-point/pack, so the second repair is just that, eitehr replacing the fuse and/or sorting whatever is stopping the mixer’s plug-unit / power-pack from getting the mixer to turn on… Similary, from what I have read online this should be a relatively simple repair job, in fact, most artciles online suggest it can be done DIY at home by the user (partly as its not audio gear specific per say, but a misc electronics repair job), but I just don’t trust myself! I’m terrible with fiddly electronics stuff, so I will happily hand it over into your far more capable and professional hands! I recently dug out my old decks and mixer after an extended stint in my loft, following a house move to somewhere with more space… Everything was working fine, generally speaking, other than discovering that the mixer’s crossfader had become much less ‘slippy’ during its extended stint in the loft. The crossfader was generally working as it should -so no actual glitches or operating issues per say- but it’s ‘action’ had become much slower / requiring much more force, like it had either got ‘clogged’ with something, or almost seized up. If I was focussed on slower, gradual mixes (like beat-matching dance music, or suchlike) it would probably work for purpose just fine. But I generally play hiphop/rap and that axis, hence, mixer-wise I’m more interested on scratching, cuts, and that sphere of ‘turntablism’ exploits, thus, crossfader-wise it is absolutely essential that it has as fast, easy, or (as they say) ‘slippy’ action as humanly possible to be able to achieve what is required stylistically. So that is my primary repair required! I’ve had mixers serviced as such in the past and I was told it was a reasonably straightforward fix, so hopefully it should be the same cae this time, fingers crossed? Secondly, as I was just packing my DJ setup gear down so I could box up the mixer ready to bring in, I heard a ‘pop’ sound via the speakers in use as I unplugged the mixer’s plug pack/power-point at the mains (via a multi-plug adaptor unit), so I plugged it all back on again to check what happened, and sure enough the mixer was not turning on when I pressed the power button – everything else (IE decks, amps etc) all worked fine and switched on at normal, bar the mixer.
