Pressing power button causes screen to turn on for 1 second (+keyboard backlight), then the power dies (surface logo flicks up, but not bootloop problem).
Keyboard detaches and reattaches normally. Tried holding power button for 60s, followed by power + volume+ for 60s with no result.
Tried (Win+shift+alt+B and vol+/- 3 times in 2 seconds) to possibly wake from sleep. Tried charging for 10 minutes (direct into tablet portion).Only thing I haven't tried is complete drain of battery, but doesn't seem possible with it not being a bootloop problem.
The problem began whilst plugging in an external keyboard for the first time connected to external display and restarting. Reinstalled windows a few days ago.

Instructions on how to proceed were clear & easy to follow, and upon deciding to go ahead I was provided with a shipping label etc. Upon receipt of my headphones a final quote for work required was provided and an estimate of date of return. My headphones were shipped back to me fully repaired and 2 days ahead of original schedule.
