As electronic engineers ourselves we have already diagnosed the fault to be one of the rs232 comms chips, namely the MC1454060, we have also already purchased the chips. Our plan was to replace the chip ourselves but now having second thoughts about that as the equipment we have may not be suitable.
Would it be possible for you guys to change the chip for us? Nothing needs to be diagnosed or tested just desolder remove replace and resolder.
As we are near Taunton we can drop the board off and collect when done.

As the DVD player sound surround system was around 20yrs old I was surprised that Electronic Partners were able to undertake a repair and give us many more years service of our system meaning no wastage of all the other perfectly good parts such as the speakers. EP also met my need in delaying the return postage until a time that I was able to be at home to receive the DVD player.
