This is an intermittent problem.
When battery gets to <70% the screen starts to flicker, when persistent it then shuts down.
Web search suggests possible battery connectors loose or maybe a new battery. Clearly something to do with the connectors though.
The device is out of warranty. Keen to get an approximate cost to review and if connectors (re-solder) and if battery (cost).

As the DVD player sound surround system was around 20yrs old I was surprised that Electronic Partners were able to undertake a repair and give us many more years service of our system meaning no wastage of all the other perfectly good parts such as the speakers. EP also met my need in delaying the return postage until a time that I was able to be at home to receive the DVD player.
